Italian Ship Owner Awarded USD 1,929,822.44

After various procedural and jurisdictional challenges by a Swiss charterer before the USDC-SDNY, George M. Chalos, acting on behalf of an Italian vessel owner, obtained an arbitration decision awarding USD 1,929,822.44. Owners claimed, and the Panel agreed, that the Swiss charter had breached the valid, binding and enforceable Contract of Affreightment, and awarded owners its’ lost profit, costs, interest, and an allowance for attorneys fees.
