Eugene J. O'Connor has over thirty years of experience in maritime and environmental law. A graduate of the College of the Holy Cross (BA, 1972) and Fordham University School of Law (JD, 1975), his practice is focused on litigation of ship casualties, cargo defense and arbitration of charter party disputes.

Additionally, Mr. O'Connor is recognized as an expert in representing Responsible Parties with respect to oil spill response and natural resource damage assessments (NRDA) and has written and lectured extensively in the United States, Europe and Asia.

Mr. O'Connor has acted as counsel for the Responsible Party in numerous oil pollution incidents, including three of the largest post-OPA '90 cases, the B-155 (Tampa Bay 1993) and the NORTH CAPE (Rhode Island 1996) and the ATHOS I (Philadelphia 2004). He has also been counsel on several coral damage cases in Puerto Rico, Florida, Hawaii and U.S. Pacific Territories, including the FORTUNA REEFER, Puerto Rico (1997), the ATC 350, Key Biscayne, Florida (1998) and the CAPE FLATTERY in Hawaii (2005).

Mr. O'Connor is married, with three children, and is a member of The Maritime Law Association of the United States, American Bar Association, and the Connecticut Maritime Association.
